Conforming to the policy of Govt. of India, and that of the founding society of the college, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny, the Cluny Women’s College, a Govt. - Aided Christian Minority College, has resolved to implement the various policies, execute the schemes and programmes, and provide the facilities to the students belonging to socially, educationally and economically weaker section of the society.
The college is committed to create an environment which is congenial to promote the idea of plurality, and respect the differences in terms of class, caste, creed, colour and culture. The college is also determined to protect the interest of the SC/ST/Minority students and act in agreement with the provisions made in our constitution in such matters.
In order to create an environment where all students feel safe and with an objective to ensure the proper implementation of the policy of the Govt. of India as well as UGC for the benefit of SC/ST/Minority, Cluny Women’s College has established the SC/ST/Minority cell on 18.06.2020.
However, it should be noted that right from its inception, the college has a Grievance Redressal Cell, which has been functioning with an objective to look into the grievances of all the students irrespective of caste, religion or language. From 18.06.2020 onwards, a separate cell named SC/St/Minority Cell has been formed to secure the interest of the SC/ST/Minority students of the college.
In the academic session 2020-21 a total of 73 Christian students were enrolled in the first semester. An online meeting with the Christian minority students along with the other SC, ST, OBC and minority students was held and they were addressed by the convenor of the committee who asked them to report their academic and/or any other problems that they were facing. The students were assured of remedial classes as and when they needed it. The first semester students were also informed about the Govt. scholarships namely Aikyashree, Oasis, Swami Vivekananda and freeship offered by the college that they could benefit from.
In the academic session 2021- 22 a total of 72 Christian students were enrolled in the first semester. Considering the mental health and wellness of the pandemic stricken students, it was decided that motivational talks and videos would be shared with the students to keep them motivated and active learners. To execute these plans a Covid Counselling Committee was formed.
In the academic session 2022- 23 a total of 35 Christian students were enrolled in the first semester. With regular offline classes resuming after almost two years of online learning the students were counselled and inducted into the college discipline. They were encouraged to ask questions and speak up regarding their confusions and problems if any. The students were also reminded that they could avail of the Govt. scholarships namely Aikyashree, Oasis and Swami Vivekananda scholarship and the facility of freeship offered by the college.
Cluny Women’s College has encouraged the SC, ST and OBC students to access various kinds of resources available to the minorities. The resources are in the form of scholarships and freeships, offered through the institution. Cluny Women’s College has provided Aikyashree, Oasis, Swami Vivekananda Scholarship, and the facility of free ships to the minority students. There are 13 SC, 29 ST and 34 OBC in 1ST Sem, 9 SC, 41 ST and 37 OBC in 3rd Semester and 13 SC, 41 ST, 25 OBC students in 5th Semester. Meetings were regularly held by the SC/ST committee members to encourage and spread awareness on the different kinds of scholarships and rights of the minorities in accordance to the Indian Constitution. Students’ participation in the meeting is considered pertinent since it shows the raising awareness and encouragement met by the students from the institution.
